Palm Beach - our favourite house

Garth and Ayn were blessed to live in this little house for 6 years. Thank you Lord - he gave it to us. It is a beach front cottage on Pittwater in Palm Beach, Sydney - one of the most beautiful spots to live in Sydney. It had it's own little stretch of beach and was only a few doors down from "Pirate Park" as the kids use to call the little park. And it was just a 10 minute ferry ride to the tranquility of the basin, directly ahead over the water.

"We rented this house from Hildy Bune, a semi-retired paediatrician who worked for Sydney Children's Hospital for many years. She eventually returned from Adelaide, South Australia to Longeville, a suburb of Sydney, and wanted her holiday house (which is what this little house on Pittwater was) back. Fancy that, wanting her house back - how preposterous!"

Garth and Ayn bought this little house (with a lot of help from Bethia and Charles) in the beachside suburb of Warriewood, on the glorious Northern Beaches of Sydney, home to one of the best stretches of coast with some of the best surfing beaches in the world. Four world champion surfers came from these beaches, as well as world Iron Man/Woman champions. Many of Sydney's Olympic Games events will be held on the waterways close by, as well as athletic events and riding events.

It had a huge back yard for the kids to mess about in, which included a sunken boat, trampoline, and cubby house. As you can see from the photo, the large yard on a 835sqm block, was the main feature, because the house wasn't much to talk about!

The intention was to remove the house and build a two storey replacement with views over Warriewood valley. However, we accepted a really good offer on the place and sold it privately, settling in February 2000 and moved to our second house a month later.

Forresters Beach

Situated in Forresters Beach, one of the holiday house suburbs of the beautiful Central Coast and renowned for being a brilliant surfing beach, this house is a 4 bedroom house with office and master bedroom downstairs. A separate single room cabin is in the back yard with an in-ground pool and spa, and bar-be-que area. Plenty of room for the kids to play (front or back) and a place for people to stay for a night or two when visiting.

It's particular situation in Forresters Beach means we are a three minute walk from either Forresters Beach or Spoon Bay (Weis beach), which is the a beautiful beach located at the northern end of a three kilometre beach that runs past Wamberal all the way down to the popular seaside suburb of Terrigal. It is quite common to see whales and dolphins in the waves off these beaches. Ayn has seen as many as 20 at a single time frolicking in the waves as Spoony.

Picketts Valley

We thought we'd finally give up living close to the sea and move to a property with acreage, and get a horse. Well, we did that but ended up only a couple of minutes from the beach at beautiful Picketts Valley. God is so good!

Just like at Palm Beach, we visited Picketts Valley soon after we arrived in the Central coast and saw the big beautiful houses and acreages, the horses and heard the bellbirds and thought that this was the place for us. Close to Avoca Beach and close to the main shopping centre on the Coast, Erina Fair, we love living here. It's vaulted entry way is a surprise for visitors and we use 2 spaces of the 3-car garage for our picture framing business.

It has a great office on the second storey which looks out over the valley, and all of the creature comforts you could ask for.
